Launch Announcement: Silhouette 2023 Model Unveiled
In a recent update, Boris FX has unveiled Silhouette 2023, a significant evolution in their film and video compositing software. This new release brings a host of innovative features designed to transform Silhouette from a rotoscoping and paint tool into a comprehensive hybrid compositing and effects platform.
One of the key additions is the Stability Node, a feature that automatically stabilizes motion in rotoscope shapes, making masks and rotoscoping smoother, especially for shaky footage. This improvement significantly enhances the user experience, particularly for those working with challenging footage.
The Grain Management Nodes are another significant development. These nodes help analyze and match grain patterns between composited elements and background plates, allowing for more realistic integration of visual effects. The Grain Management Nodes include the DeNoiser ML node (powered by machine learning), Regrain node, and Sapphire UltraGrain node, all of which contribute to a more cinematic realism in composited scenes.
The Primatte Node integration marks the arrival of the Academy Award-nominated chroma keyer technology within Silhouette. This powerful keying tool offers improved edge detection and spill suppression, making it easier to extract bluescreen/greenscreen elements with precision.
Expressions have been introduced to allow users to create parameter-driven animations and control node properties using scripting or math functions. This feature enhances flexibility and automation inside the node graph, enabling more complex and dynamic compositions.
The Compositing & VFX Nodes have been updated with Sapphire 2023.5, Mocha Pro 2023, Particle Illusion 2023, and select Continuum 2023 nodes. These updates provide artists with better color correction tools, blending modes, tracking enhancements, and matte manipulation, making Silhouette a more complete VFX platform.
