Stephane Flaquet Takes Over as Lloyd's Chief Operating Officer
Stephane Flaquet has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lloyd's, effective from September 1, 2025. He will join Lloyd's Executive Team and report directly to CEO Patrick Tiernan.
With over 30 years of experience in building and leading high-performing teams, Flaquet is poised to bring his expertise to Lloyd's. He has a proven track record of delivering complex change and driving profitable growth across international markets.
Flaquet's role at Lloyd's will focus on driving efficiencies and modern working practices to meet the challenges of the evolving insurance market. He will oversee the market’s operations function, delivering services to both the Lloyd’s market and the corporation.
Flaquet will execute the operations strategy, manage technology, data, and change initiatives, and lead the corporation’s work on market infrastructure resilience. Additionally, he will be responsible for activities connected to Blueprint Two, Lloyd’s modernization program.
Before joining Lloyd's, Flaquet worked at Hiscox since 2010, most recently as Group Chief Operations and Technology Officer. Prior to Hiscox, he held senior positions at American International Group (AIG) and Capital One.
Flaquet replaces George Marcotte, who served as interim COO starting September 2024. Marcotte is returning to Accenture after his tenure at Lloyd's. The author expresses confidence in Flaquet's ability to lead Lloyd's Operations function and execute the operations strategy.
