Managing your Philips Hue lighting system and sensors just got easier with the latest, complimentary app update, eliminating the hassle associated with setup.
Philips Hue App Update Simplifies Accessory Integration
In a bid to streamline the setup process for its popular smart lighting system, Philips Hue has rolled out a new update for its mobile app. The latest version, 5.43.0, offers several improvements, with the key emphasis on automating the addition of new accessories to a zone during the initial setup.
The new update aims to address a common user complaint regarding the assignment of new devices to a room or zone. Previously, users might miss this optional step, leading to unassigned accessories and, consequently, the unavailability of lighting scenes associated with the unassigned devices.
To remedy this issue, the updated Philips Hue app now suggests creating at least one zone when setting up new sensors or switches. This proactive approach ensures that all accessories are assigned to a zone from the outset, maintaining full functionality of lighting scenes. It also allows users the flexibility to hide the newly created zones later on if they prefer a cleaner view on their home dashboard.
Moreover, the latest update introduces a streamlined setup process for Philips Hue security cameras. During the initial setup, users can now opt for motion-controlled lighting, making it easier to integrate these devices with existing Philips Hue systems.
While the aforementioned changes are relatively minor, they are designed to make the Philips Hue experience smoother for users extending their smart lighting setup. Notable enhancements and the rumored Philips Hue AI assistant are yet to be announced.
