Mazda Names Jacques Flynn as New Senior Director for Mazda Design America

Mazda has appointed Jacques Flynn as its new senior director for Mazda Design America. Flynn replaces Yasutake Tsuchida, who left the position in February 2023.

Flynn brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as brand style director for Mazda Design America from 2022 to 2023. Before that, he was the lead exterior designer at Mazda Design America from 2006 to 2017, contributing to the design of the current fourth-generation MX-5 sports car. Most recently, Flynn worked on concept vehicle design at EV startup Karma Automotive.

Ryotaro Nishida, vice president of research and development, design and quality assurance at Mazda North American Operations, praised Flynn's extensive background in brand management and passion for design. Flynn will now lead all design-related activities for Mazda in North America.

Jacques Flynn's promotion comes after Yutaka Matsumoto was removed from the position in February 2023. Flynn's deep understanding of Mazda's design language and his proven track record make him an ideal fit for the role. He is expected to drive Mazda's design strategy in North America.
