MegaFon to Eliminate Data Flow to News Websites
President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump will meet face-to-face for the first time since 2019, as the Russia-USA summit is scheduled for August 15. The event will take place in the state of Alaska.
In preparation for the summit, MegaFon, a Russian telecommunications company, has announced a zero-rating offer for its customers. From August 15 to 17, subscribers can access leading Russian news resources for free, allowing them to stay informed about events in real-time and without restrictions.
The list of zero-rated resources includes federal TV channels, business publications, popular public media, and 14 specific sites: RIA Novosti, TASS, Interfax, RBC, Kommersant, Vedomosti, Izvestia, Gazeta.Ru, Lenta.ru, NTV, First Channel, VGTRK, RT, and Ura.ru.
MegaFon's Commercial Director, Dmitry Rudskikh, explained that the zero-rating of leading Russian media aims to provide subscribers with quick and convenient access to reliable information during the Russia-USA summit. External links, including social networks and video hosting sites, will still be charged according to the terms of the current tariff plan.
This offer extends to all customers in Russia with a positive account balance, requiring no additional subscription. Subscribers can read news, watch video, and text broadcasts for free during the specified period.
The zero-rating period coincides with the Russia-USA summit, offering users a convenient way to follow the event as it unfolds. This initiative is intended to provide users with quick and convenient access to reliable information during the Russia-USA summit.
