Mobile Speed Surveillance Sites Identified
In the city of Bergisch Gladbach, mobile speed checks will be carried out from Wednesday, 17th September to Saturday, 27th September 2025, with a particular focus on the Kempener Straße (PLZ 51467 in Schildgen, Torringen) and the In der Auen (PLZ 51427 in Lustheide) areas, both of which have a speed limit of 30 km/h.
These measures are being implemented to ensure traffic safety, in accordance with the available resources, as part of a new regulation that requires the announcement and publication of communal measuring points for speed monitoring measures. The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of North Rhine-Westphalia changed the administrative directive for § 48 Abs. 2 of the Public Order Ordinance (OBG) effective July 15, 2013, and numbered it as 48.26.
The city of Bergisch Gladbach publishes the planned measurement points of the speed monitoring carried out by the municipality on a weekly basis on its official website. The exact measurement times are not published, but the locations that are to be monitored are announced daily.
Here are the scheduled measurement points for each day:
- Monday, 22nd September: Halbenmorgen, Voiswinkeler Straße, and Katterbachstraße.
- Tuesday, 23rd September: Saaler Straße, Am Rübezahlwald, and Nußbaumer Straße.

It's worth noting that the police authority carries out its own controls, and information on these can be found on the police's website. Scientific studies show that transparency, publication, and more controls bring about positive behavioral changes, making these measures crucial for maintaining a safe and orderly traffic environment.
