Moon-based navigation system: Spanish firm showcases lunar positioning technology
Hey there! Check out this sick venture from Spanish tech company GMV - they've cooked up a GPS-style navigation system for our favorite space rock, the Moon! Yep, you heard it right, a lunar-friendly Google Maps or Waze, as they put it.
This project, named Lupin, is part of the European Space Agency's gig to test new ways of positioning, navigation, and timing. With the moon being all the rage again, what with science, mining, and potentially tourism, the timing couldn't be better!
So how does it work? By grabbing GPS-like signals from satellites whizzing around the Moon, Lupin helps rovers and astronauts figure out their spot on the lunar surface real-time.
