MSI reminiscent graphics cards, RTX 5060 Ti TwinFrozer Retro and RTX 5070 Cyclone, evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Unleashing the Past with a Modern Twist: MSI's Retro-Inspired RTX 5060 Series
MSI is diving headfirst into nostalgia with their latest additions to the RTX 5060 series, revealed at Computex 2025. Say hello to the RTX 5060 Ti TwinFrozer Retro and RTX 5060 Cyclone, models that take inspiration from MSI's iconic cooler designs from the early 2010s.
The RTX 5060 Ti TwinFrozer Retro channels the original TwinFrozer cooler design that graced many of MSI's GeForce GPUs, from the GTX 500 series to the 700 series. It takes a trip down memory lane by featuring a metallic color theme inspired by the TwinFrozer II cooler from the GTX 400 and 500 series. The revamped design flaunts a heatsink exposed on the bottom of the shroud, a testament to MSI's dedication to both tradition and innovation.
By incorporating today’s cooling technologies, the RTX 5060 TwinFrozer Retro proves that old school doesn't mean outdated. The card boasts copper-aluminum composite fins, a no-solder-hole design, 7-bladed Stormforce fans, a nickel-plated copper baseplate, and a metal backplate. Rumor has it that MSI will up the ante with a hybrid copper/aluminum fin design, making the card a true powerhouse in terms of cooling efficiency.
Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 Cyclone Visual, another model with retro roots, proudly displays its heritage with a large single-fan cooler design, reminiscent of the original Cyclone coolers on the GTX 400 and 500 series. The iconic look of these coolers, functional but eccentric, lives on in the RTX 5070 Cyclone Visual. So, what sets this version apart? Enter the built-in screen on the fan hub. Users can customize this display with system monitoring data or their favorite images and GIFs, a feature that was absent in the RTX 4060 Cyclone 8G OC.
Innovative and powerful, the MSI RTX 5070 Cyclone Visual promises a mesmerizing blend of past and future. With its enhanced cooling, integrated display, and support for the latest technologies, this graphics card is designed to captivate gamers and content creators seeking a high-performance powerhouse.
