OpenWay Expands Award-Winning Digital Payments Solution into Francophone Africa

OpenWay, the global leader behind the acclaimed Way4 digital payment platform, has announced its expansion into Francophone Africa. This move is part of OpenWay's commitment to accelerating fintech innovation across the African continent.

The strategic plan for this expansion involves two main steps. First, making the Way4 digital payment platform available to banks and fintechs across the region, starting with Morocco and Tunisia through a long-term partnership with a leading tier-1 Moroccan bank, supporting its digital transformation. Second, establishing a dedicated local team in North Africa to provide tailored, regionally relevant support, combining OpenWay's global expertise with local industry knowledge.

The local team will be reinforced by OpenWay's global delivery expertise and a deep bench of industry specialists. This local presence is further enhanced by collaboration with partners and professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Jean-Philippe Wolyniec, Regional Sales Director at OpenWay, expresses pride in co-creating impact with clients and supporting their mission to deliver inclusive, secure, and future-ready payment experiences. He believes that this expansion will allow OpenWay to extend support to visionary institutions building Africa's next-generation payment infrastructure.

The expansion provides several benefits to banks and fintechs in the region. They will have access to a best-in-class, Gartner- and Datos-recognized payment platform that supports real-time, 24/7 digital-first payment services covering issuing, acquiring, and processing. The platform also allows for the consolidation of multiple payment products—cards, digital wallets, account-to-account (A2A) transfers, merchant services, cryptocurrencies, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)—on a single flexible and configurable platform.

Additionally, the Way4 platform offers enhanced enterprise-grade security, reliability, and regulatory compliance. It ensures seamless scalability for operations across different regions and continents without limitations on functionality. Localized support through the North African team ensures services are culturally and operationally relevant.

OpenWay has already made significant strides in Africa, with financial leaders such as Equity Bank in Kenya having chosen Way4. The company has also partnered with rising fintech SanuPay in Ethiopia. This expansion into Francophone Africa is a testament to OpenWay's commitment to empowering financial institutions with advanced, scalable digital payment infrastructure combined with local expertise, enabling them to compete effectively in a rapidly evolving fintech ecosystem.
