Nvidia reveals 2U RTX Pro 6000 servers at SIGGRAPH - Compact rackmount versions of the Blackwell power Double Shot now available
New 2U Servers with Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000 GPUs Arrive for On-Premise AI Deployments
In a significant move for the tech industry, major system partners such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro have announced the launch of 2U servers equipped with Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000 GPUs. These servers, designed for mainstream 2U rack-mount systems, are expected to be commercially available later in 2025.
Dell took the lead with the announcement of the PowerEdge R7725 2U server, featuring two RTX Pro 6000 GPUs. Other partners, including Cisco, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro, are also set to offer similar 2U server products.
These 2U servers join existing 4U, 6U, and 8U RTX Pro server form factors, aiming to bring high-performance Blackwell GPU acceleration into smaller, air-cooled, more power-efficient, and rack-friendly enterprise environments. This move enables enterprises, including mid-market and traditional IT departments, to deploy advanced AI workloads on-premises without the need for larger server chassis.
The RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition, the fully enabled version of Nvidia's desktop RTX 5090, offers integration of Nvidia's BlueField-3 DPUs and ConnectX-8 SuperNICs with built-in PCIe Gen 6 switches. The RTX 6000 Pro features 24,064 CUDA cores, 600W TBP, and a 512-bit memory interface paired with 96GB of 28Gbps GDDR7 memory.
Nvidia claims that 2U RTX Pro servers provide up to 45x better performance and 18x higher energy efficiency compared to CPU-only 2U systems. However, specific performance claims or comparisons were not mentioned in the initial announcement.
The RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition is a more affordable alternative to Nvidia's B200 and B300 Blackwell GPUs, which consume enough power to virtually require liquid cooling, making them expensive and complex to deploy. The air-cooled RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition reduces server costs for AI GPUs, making high-performance computing more accessible for businesses.
These new 2U servers were unveiled at the SIGGRAPH 2025 conference in early August and are expected to be available for orders later in 2025, following the initial announcement and validation phase. The servers are ideal for onsite edge computing deployments, offering a compact and efficient solution for high-performance computing needs.
The development of data-and-cloud-computing solutions continues to advance with the announcement of 2U servers, featuring Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000 GPUs, in the tech industry. These servers, driven by technology, are intended to deliver high-performance GPU acceleration in smaller, power-efficient, and rack-friendly enterprise environments, making it easier for businesses to deploy advanced AI workloads on-premises.
