Ørsted Advances 1.4 GW Incheon Offshore Wind Project With Key Local Partnerships
Ørsted, a global leader in offshore wind, has made significant strides in South Korea with its 1.4 GW Incheon offshore wind project. The company has completed site investigations for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and is progressing the EIA process and wind farm design. Notably, Ørsted has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with key local partners to advance the project.
Ørsted has inked an MoU with Korea South-East Power (KOEN) to explore KOEN's potential involvement in the development of the Incheon project. The president of KOEN, Kang Gi-yun, is mentioned as a partner in this venture. Additionally, Ørsted has signed an MoU with South Korea's POSCO Group to explore a partnership that includes potential equity participation and operations and maintenance (O&M) opportunities.
Ørsted's CEO for the Asia Pacific region, Per Mejnert Kristensen, expressed that KOEN's expertise and local network will be crucial in aligning the project with South Korea's policies and industry ambitions. Furthermore, Ørsted has signed an MoU with Incheon Metropolitan City to collaborate on developing an offshore wind power industry in the region. The 1.4 GW Incheon project, subject to final investment decision (FID), is expected to be one of the largest offshore wind farms in South Korea.
Ørsted's 1.4 GW Incheon offshore wind project is progressing with key partnerships and local collaborations. Following the completion of site investigations for the EIA and the signing of MoUs with significant local players, the project is poised to contribute significantly to South Korea's renewable energy landscape.
