Partnership between Allego and Kempower for delivering powerful charging solutions in Europe for electric vehicles
Allego and Kempower Introduce Flexible High-Power EV Charging System
Allego, a Dutch EV charging infrastructure provider, and Kempower, a Finnish DC fast charger manufacturer, have jointly developed a new split system for high-power charging in Europe. This innovative system is designed to cater to the growing need for high-power charging solutions and support the rapid growth of electric mobility across the continent.
The system features a flexible split system architecture that enables site-specific configurations, dynamic power modules, and intelligent power distribution. This design allows simultaneous charging of multiple electric vehicles (EVs) by dynamically sharing power between charging plugs. The system is modular and scalable, supporting future growth in demand, including applications like truck charging.
The first pilot sites for this system are live in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. These sites showcase the system's capabilities with up to 200 kW per plug and total site capacities of 600 kW, delivering a first-class charging experience adapted to various environments and expanding EV infrastructure across Europe.
Key benefits include flexible installation and site-specific configuration, dynamic power sharing, high charging speeds, modularity and futureproof design, optimized energy efficiency, and enhanced support for rapid growth of electric mobility. These features collectively provide flexibility, high power, scalability, and improved user experience for high-power EV charging infrastructure.
Guillaume Goijen, Director of Charging Solutions & Site Design at Allego, has underscored the importance of the system in accommodating the charging needs of heavy-duty vehicles like trucks. He has also highlighted the system's role in promoting the adoption of electric mobility in Europe and emphasized its potential to facilitate truck charging.
Further pilot sites are under construction in Sweden and Denmark, and the system, after extensive joint development and rigorous testing, will be integrated into Allego's investment portfolio. With this new split system, Allego is positioned to play a significant role in the development of a comprehensive charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Europe.
