Pole Star Global Acquires Clearwater Dynamics to Boost Maritime Risk Intelligence
Pole Star Global, a UK-based specialist in voyage optimization and dark vessel detection, has acquired maritime risk intelligence company Clearwater Dynamics. The acquisition, financial terms of which remain undisclosed, brings together two key players in the maritime industry.
Clearwater Dynamics, known for its focus on situational awareness within high-risk maritime environments, offers the Coral platform. This platform is renowned for managing marine war insurance risk, assisting insurers and brokers in risk assessment and mitigation. With this acquisition, Pole Star Global's proprietary data platform, DOMAIN, will be bolstered by new data sources from Clearwater Dynamics' operational network.
Pole Star Global CEO Bob Skea described the acquisition as a 'natural extension' of their vision. It aims to create a 'seamless, data-rich ecosystem' for maritime risk. The Coral platform's real-time risk assessment tools will complement Pole Star Global's existing maritime intelligence services. Meanwhile, Clearwater Dynamics CEO Will Unwin expressed enthusiasm about joining Pole Star Global, stating it will enable them to 'scale Coral's capabilities and reach a wider global audience.'
The acquisition of Clearwater Dynamics by Pole Star Global is expected to enhance both companies' offerings in the maritime risk intelligence sector. By integrating Clearwater Dynamics' real-time vessel risk monitoring and marine insurance capabilities into its existing portfolio, Pole Star Global strengthens its position in the market.
