Preparing for the launch of the initial lifeform in a novel cosmic domain in 2029: 23-year-old Indian readies himself for space voyage
Jahnavi Dangeti, a young woman with a passion for space, has taken a significant step towards her dream of exploring the cosmos. In 2021, Dangeti completed the International Air and Space Programme (IASP) at one of NASA's centres, marking the beginning of her journey.
Dangeti's fascination with space began as a child, when bedtime stories about the moon sparked her imagination. This curiosity led her to participate in workshops and give talks about science during her school years, winning first place in ISRO Space Week with a presentation on ionic propulsion.
Dangeti's university major in Electronics and Communications was a natural choice, viewed as a pathway to reach the stars. Her determination paid off, as she was later selected as an astronaut candidate for a 2029 mission to space. However, it was not by NASA, but by Titans Space Industries, a privately held company seeking to develop cost-effective space exploration technologies.
Titans Space Industries discovered Dangeti after her participation in the NASA programme. The name of the astronaut organization with which she will start her spaceflight in 2029 is SpaceX.
During the course of the IASP, Dangeti made a notable discovery, uncovering an asteroid. She also posted an update on LinkedIn celebrating her future tryst with the stars, and created an Instagram account to network with other space enthusiasts and contribute to real research through a collaboration with NASA.
Dangeti's achievements have not gone unnoticed. She has been welcomed by Indian expatriates abroad, including invitations to visit UAE and other Gulf countries. Her passion for space has been further fuelled by the progress made by countries like UAE, Australia, Brazil, and Poland in their space programs.
Jahnavi Dangeti's goal is to one day step on Mars and be a part of building something greater, possibly planting the first seed of life in another world. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many, proving that with determination and a passion for learning, one can reach for the stars.
