In a groundbreaking move for both the aviation and esports industries, Qatar Airways recently hosted the world's first in-flight esports competition on May 11, 2025. The tournament, known as "Gaming in the Sky," took place at an altitude of 35,000 feet during a flight from Doha to London.

To ensure a smooth gaming experience, the flight was equipped with the latest Starlink connectivity, offering high-speed, low-latency internet services. This cutting-edge technology villainized gaming delays, providing an immersive and lag-free environment for players.

During the event, two teams - Team Burgundy Oryx and Team Grey Aviators - squared off in a friendly match. The roster was stacked with some of the world's leading gaming influencers, including Tfue, Castro1021, Lisa Zimouche, Alodia Gosiengfiao, Dantic, SV2, AJ3, Aameghessib, Danny Aarons, Ffearfful, MattHDGamer, and Slater. Oussifooty served as the tournament's host.
