Red-colored Siberian region gears up to make a leap in technological advancement.
In Krasnoyarsk, a new wave of scientific-technological innovation is about to commence!
Four expert groups have been set up, bringing together leaders from major industries, Russian Academy of Sciences scholars, and universities in the region. With the objectives of Governor Mikhail Kotyukov, who heads the Committee of the State Council on Technological Leadership, the scientific-technological development program for Krasnoyarsk will be jointly executed with industry partners and the scientific community, focusing on practical applications.
As per the approved plan, unveiled in December 2024, Krasnoyarsk aims to develop four strategic areas of technological leadership: production and automation, new materials and chemistry, industrial transportation mobility, and new energy technologies. As we speak, around 40 scientific research, production, and experimental-construction initiatives have already commenced.
The created expert groups will assess the scientific merit, profitability, and alignment with regional economy needs of new projects. This meticulous process will help in selecting the most effective proposals.
"We will continue our collaboration with industries to determine development plans and monitor ongoing programs. Projects fitting the criteria of the scientific-technological development program may receive support at the regional and federal levels", stated Maxim Yermakov, the Minister of Industry and Trade in the region.
Krasnoyarsk was among the 20 pilot regions selected to develop their own scientific-technological programs. By 2030, research and development investments are projected to amount to 2% of GDP, and employment in the high-tech sectors is set to grow by 25%.
While it's difficult to find detailed information about Krasnoyarsk's specific initiatives, we can look to broader Russian technological developments for insights. Innovation hubs, incubators, government grants, educational programs, and infrastructure development are common support mechanisms for high-tech industries in regions across Russia.
