Rivian unveils its genuine powered tonneau cover (without a doubt, this time) (indeed)
Rivian Reintroduces Reliable Powered Tonneau Cover for R1T Models
Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has brought back its Powered Tonneau Cover for select R1T models. The cover, which is now more reliable than earlier versions, is available as an option in Rivian's configurator for new vehicles and as a retrofit for certain existing ones.
For those who have received a Rivian referral code, the Powered Tonneau Cover can be used to pay for the accessory when added to a new vehicle configuration. The price for Dual configurations is $2,000, but it comes standard on Tri and Quad configurations.
Rivian claims that the new Powered Tonneau Cover is virtually noise-free, a significant improvement over the original cover that was discontinued due to reliability issues. Owners who experienced problems with the original cover were offered fixes or replacements by Rivian.
The cover costs $3,300, which includes both parts and installation at a Rivian service center. Some owners have already had the cover installed, with costs around $2,500 for parts and about 3 hours of labor.
However, not all R1T vehicles are compatible with the Powered Tonneau Cover. Vehicles with VIN numbers between ~14k and ~19k might not be compatible, while those above ~21k and some early vehicles with VINs of ~13k and under may be compatible. Rivian recommends confirming eligibility through their Service team before purchasing the cover.
Those who are interested in going solar can take advantage of the 30% federal solar tax credit, which is ending this year. To find a trusted, reliable solar installer near you with competitive pricing, use EnergySage, a free service that connects you with pre-vetted solar installers.
To check if your vehicle is eligible and set up an appointment, visit Rivian's Gear Shop or call (855) RIVIAN5. The Powered Tonneau Cover is now available, making it a convenient and reliable solution for Rivian R1T owners.
