Russia Launches Ambitious Banana Cultivation Project

Russia has initiated an ambitious project to cultivate bananas domestically. Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut, who previously considered a similar project in Kazakhstan, has announced the commencement of the first greenhouses dedicated to growing the tropical fruit.

The project, which aims to produce bananas in a controlled environment, is a significant step towards diversifying Russia's agricultural landscape. Despite the country's cold climate, these greenhouses will provide the necessary warmth and humidity for banana plants to thrive.

The construction of these greenhouses has begun, marking a new chapter in Russian agriculture. Minister Lut, who has been a strong proponent of this initiative, believes that anything can be grown in Russia, given the right conditions. The project is part of the government's broader strategy to increase the production of domestic fruits and vegetables.

The first greenhouses for banana cultivation in Russia are now under construction. This project, led by an unnamed project manager, is a testament to the government's commitment to expanding the country's agricultural portfolio. With bananas now officially recognised as a Russian agricultural product, the stage is set for the tropical fruit to be grown and enjoyed locally.
