In a significant move for Turkey's renewable energy sector, CW Enerji, a leading solar technology company, has announced plans to increase its solar panel manufacturing capacity from the current 1.2 GW to a staggering 5 GW by 2028. This expansion is part of the company's second phase and will be facilitated by an investment of $520 million (21.09 billion Turkish Lira) under Turkey’s HIT-30 incentive program.

The expansion will take place at CW Enerji's facility in the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, which is already the largest of its kind in Turkey and Europe. The company's strategic focus is on promoting local production ecosystems and supporting national solar energy goals, aligned with the government’s HIT-30 program.

CW Enerji's Chairman, Tarik Sarvan, emphasized the strategic importance of local supply chains. He sees the global decline in solar cell prices, due to shifting production in China and the U.S., as an opportunity for Turkey's industrial base.

Currently, CW Enerji produces high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells at its Antalya facility, with an annual capacity of 1.2 GW. To meet the increased demand, the company is expanding over an area of 200,000 square meters, targeting both the U.S. and European markets.

The company's panels are used in various applications, including industrial rooftops, agricultural irrigation systems, marine applications, and smart home systems. CW Enerji has also established firms in Munich and Houston to supply country-specific solar panels.

The factory manufactures high-tech solar panels from ingot raw materials, with over 80% of its components sourced domestically. This emphasis on a strong local supply chain includes sourcing necessary gases and chemicals from within Turkey.

CW Enerji exports to nearly 60 countries and currently has 1.8 GW of panel production capacity, with 90% sold domestically. The company has launched a 35-45 megawatt production line at its new facility.

Founded in 2010 by Tarik Sarvan, who brings experience from the European solar energy sector, CW Enerji aims to boost capacity to 5 GW by 2028 as part of the project's second phase. This expansion solidifies CW Enerji's role as a key player in scaling Turkey’s solar technology capacity and manufacturing capabilities toward meeting growing regional and global demand.
