SonicWall introduces updated firewall models within its Generation 8 series upgrades

SonicWall has unveiled nine new high-performance firewalls as part of its Generation 8 platform refresh. The new offerings are designed to help Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) bolster client protection and drive revenue.

The new SonicWall Generation 8 firewalls are equipped with features tailored specifically for MSPs and MSSPs. These include SonicWall Unified Management, built-in Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), SonicSentry co-managed security services, an industry-first embedded cyber warranty, and flexible deployment options.

SonicWall Unified Management provides a single cloud-based console to centrally manage all firewalls, network policies, access controls, and user accounts. This reduces operational complexity and streamlines multi-tenant management for MSPs and MSSPs.

Each firewall comes with embedded licenses for next-generation secure remote access, enabling easy deployment of modern cloud access control, strengthening security for remote and distributed workforces.

SonicSentry co-managed security services offer optional 24/7 monitoring, patching, and monthly security reporting provided by SonicWall experts. This service enables partners to offer managed detection and response alongside their firewall offerings, increasing value for clients.

The industry-first embedded cyber warranty covers each managed firewall with up to $200,000 of built-in coverage. This warranty supports up to $1 million of combined cyber insurance coverage when bundled.

The new firewall lineup includes models ranging from the ultra-compact TZ280 to the high-performance NSa 5800, designed for small offices, distributed environments, and mid-sized enterprises. Each model can be purchased via a monthly subscription, and partners can choose from self-managed Advanced Protection Service Suite (APSS) or fully co-managed Managed Protection Security Suite (MPSS) monthly subscription packages with no minimums or long-term commitments.

Jason Carter, SonicWall's chief revenue officer, commented that the platform gives partners every advantage to grow margins, differentiate offerings, and meet their customers' evolving needs. SonicWall president and CEO Bob VanKirk stated that the new firewalls will better prepare partners and their customers for the latest threats and market requirements.

The cloud-native management of each model is tailored towards the needs of service providers. The latest SonicOS capabilities are integrated into each model of the new firewalls. The models can also be purchased with SonicWall's Managed Protection Security Suite (MPSS) for co-managed security services.

The new firewalls offer advanced protection, unified management, integrated Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), co-managed security services, and built-in warranty. This combination empowers MSPs and MSSPs to deliver scalable, trusted, and profitable cybersecurity services.

The revamp is part of SonicWall's strategy to deliver an integrated and comprehensive security platform. The move to flexible licensing and co-managed security services is intended to help partners build predictable recurring revenue. The new firewalls are covered by SonicWall's built-in cyber warranty and are positioned for use cases including SMBs, mid-market security, multi-tenant management, compliance-focused reporting, and full-stack offerings with warranties and optional cyber insurance coverage up to $1 million.
