Ready to dive back into the gritty world of Warhammer 40,000? Fresh off a significant overhaul, the original Space Marine is headed to modern gaming!
SneakyBox, the port developers, are bringing us a refreshed experience dubbed the "Master Crafted Edition." Vaidas Mikelskas, the producer, describes it as a blend of tradition and innovation, highlighting a delicate balance between preserving the game’s original charm and updating it for a new generation. Expect improved graphical effects, an up-to-date user interface, better controls, and revamped Orks to fit the current franchise visual identity. To top it off, over a hundred new voice lines have been added![1]
Originally developed by Relic Entertainment, the first Space Marine dropped in 2011 and received generally positive reviews.[1] While the game originally planned for sequels, the project hit a roadblock when its publisher, THQ, shut down. Later on, Sega acquired Relic and re-released the game on PC in 2021. And the sequel? Saber Interactive took charge of development, and it hit the shelves in 2024, garnering solid reviews. With a follow-up sequel in development, the saga continues![5]
As of now, the rights for the first Warhammer 40K: Space Marine belong to Sega, who hasn't announced a PlayStation 5 version of the Master Crafted Edition yet.[2] But if you're chomping at the bit to play on your PC or Xbox Series X|S, mark your calendars – the game drops on June 10, 2025, and it's also going to be available on Xbox Game Pass for the Xbox Series X|S platform![4]
