Spain's EV Revolution Surges: 4.71% More Charging Points, 83% More Sales in H1 2025
Spain's electric vehicle (EV) revolution is gaining momentum. By June 2025, the country boasted nearly 50,000 active public charging points for cars, a 4.71% increase from late 2024. This surge in infrastructure coincides with record-breaking EV sales, with over 111,000 units registered in the first half of the year, an 83% jump from the same period last year.
June 2025 saw a remarkable 27,000 electric cars sold, including over 11,000 pure electric passenger vehicles. This growth is not limited to passenger cars; one in five vehicles sold in Spain now has some form of electrification.
The charging infrastructure has kept pace with this demand. Rapid charging points (22-50 kW) for cars have increased by 21.34%, while high-power charging points (50 kW and above) have seen even more significant growth, with increases of 64.07% and 53.71% respectively.
Spain's electric mobility sector is thriving, with a 4.71% increase in charging points and an 83% surge in EV registrations in the first half of 2025. The country is on track to meet its ambitious EV targets, with one in five vehicles sold now being electrified.
