Kambi Group Secures Nevada License and Prepares for Expansion

Kambi Group, a leading provider of sports betting platforms, has secured its initial gaming licenses in Nevada, marking a significant step towards expanding its operations in the U.S. The company, headquartered in Malta and trading its stock in Sweden, has been impressing commission members with its team and processes [1][4][5].

During a recent hearing, Commission member Brian Krolicki expressed his admiration for Kambi's team, regretting the delay in the application process. Kambi executives made a second trip to the U.S. for the hearing, choosing to do so in person rather than over Zoom, indicating their commitment to the market [2].

As of August 2025, Kambi has been granted both the Manufacturer & Distributor and Information Services licenses, allowing it to test and operate its sports betting platform in Nevada. The company's CEO, Werner Becher, is currently awaiting final approval for his personal gaming license from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, with an expected decision around August 21, 2025 [1][4].

Once licensing and initial deployment phases finalize, Kambi plans to expand its retail sports betting operations across Nevada. The company aims to leverage its access to a vast network of experienced gaming professionals in the state for a broader rollout, aligning with CEO Becher’s public statements emphasizing Nevada’s regulatory environment as a critical gold standard for broader U.S. growth [1][4].

While specific casino partnerships within Nevada have not been publicly announced yet, Kambi Group is set to begin with a field test at Bally's Lake Tahoe and aims to expand to other casino operators in the state [3]. Commission member Brian Krolicki, a neighbour of Bally's Lake Tahoe, is excited about the potential value added by Kambi's entry into the Nevada market [3].

Kambi Group operates in 15 states and one Canadian province, offering online, mobile, and retail services to 45 operators. The company is not planning to co-list its stock in the U.S., but it does plan to offer online and mobile services in Nevada, subject to further evaluation by the tech division [6].

Kambi Group's focus is on developing its business in Nevada and the rest of the U.S. The company has more than 1,000 employees and claims that the Kambi network is the biggest retail sportsbook in many U.S. states [7]. Anders Strom, Kambi's board chairman and co-founder, apologized for the length of time the application process has taken [8].

The Commission thanked Kambi executives for their efforts and expressed appreciation for the company's commitment to the Nevada market. Kambi Group partners with tribes, Rush Street Interactive, Penn Entertainment, and Parx Casino, and it was acquired its first U.S. licenses in 2018 in New Jersey and Pennsylvania [1][6].
