Staccato C2 EDC: Gun Enthusiast's 3-Year Modifications for Performance & Concealability
Gun enthusiast and author has been using their Staccato C2 pistol as an everyday carry (EDC) for nearly three years. The author has made several modifications to enhance the pistol's performance and concealability.
Initially, the author used the C2's Officer Double Stack (ODS) grip with a 16-round flush-fit magazine. However, they found that bed sizes and magazines were more popular and accessible in the DS1911 market. To accommodate full size mattress magazines without risking damage to the ejector, the author swapped the ODS grip for a full-size 2011 grip module.
The author also replaced the MJD polymer mainspring housing with a steel unit from Dawson Precision to add weight and balance the pistol's lightweight aluminum frame. Additionally, they upgraded to Check Mate's Ultra-High Capacity (UHC) magazine, increasing the C2's capacity to 19+1 rounds while maintaining concealability with a flush-fit mag.
For concealment, the author uses LAS Concealment's Tanto holster, featuring a pair of DCC belt clips and a modular wing design. This holster was specifically made for the Staccato C2 in 2023, providing a secure and concealable carry option. The author also chose the MJD Solutions Bald Grip in FDE color, coated with KG Gun Kote, for a slick grip module that serves as a blank slate for coating/texture artists.
The author's modifications to their Staccato C2 pistol have improved its functionality and concealability. By swapping grips and magazines, adding weight to the frame, and using a specialized holster, the author has created an EDC pistol that is well-suited to their needs.
