Administering services platform unveiled in Saarland - Streamlined Access to Administrative Services Now in Saarland
New Digital Service Portal Simplifies Access to Government Services in Saarland
Starting from August 1, 2025, citizens and businesses in Saarland can access a wide range of administrative services online through the new Service Portal Saarland. This digital platform, launched under the leadership of the Saarland Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy, aims to improve accessibility and efficiency in government service delivery.
The Service Portal Saarland consolidates information on around 1,500 administrative services, making it easier for users to find the services they need. It also indicates the responsible authorities for each service, ensuring clarity and transparency.
Key features of the portal include the digital completion of numerous services such as applying for parental benefits (Elterngeld), BAföG (student financial aid), and various business subsidies directly through the portal. The portal is also integrated and linked with other service portals at the federal, other state, and EU levels, providing seamless access across jurisdictions.
The Service Portal Saarland is designed to be barrier-free, making it accessible to all citizens. Continuous technical development and gradual content expansion are planned to cover more services over time. The portal was guided by the Chief Digital Officer Ammar Alkassar, who has a strong background in cybersecurity and digital strategy.
The Service Portal Saarland is expected to reduce the need for physical visits to government offices, making administrative processes more efficient. This digital transformation is a step towards modernizing government services and reducing bureaucratic hurdles, supporting Saarland’s broader strategy for innovation and digital governance.
The new service portal is based in Saarbrücken, Saarland, and will be available from Thursday. Many administrative tasks can already be completed online through the Service Portal Saarland without visiting government offices. This development is a significant milestone in the ongoing digitalization efforts in Saarland and is intended to improve accessibility to government services, facilitate digital completion of administrative tasks, and make administrative processes more efficient for citizens and businesses.
