Support initiatives enter their third phase at hubs
The Digital Hub Initiative, a key project aimed at transforming Germany into a leading digital location, is set to receive continued funding. This funding, totalling around 1.2 million euros over two years, comes from the Double Budget 2025/2026.
In Baden-Württemberg, three de:hubs – de:hub Stuttgart, de:hub Karlsruhe, and de:hub Rhein-Neckar (Mannheim/Ludwigshafen) – will benefit from this funding in the third phase. These de:hubs serve as beacons for national and international cooperation in Karlsruhe, Mannheim/Ludwigshafen, and Stuttgart.
The de:hubs in Baden-Württemberg focus on networking small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovation partners from the start-up scene and science. They aim to help existing companies, start-ups, research institutions, students, and investors from Germany and abroad. The hubs offer support in the fields of applied artificial intelligence (AI), digital chemistry and health, and future industries.
The de:hubs in Baden-Württemberg also serve as thematic input providers for the regional Digital Hubs. Alongside the Baden-Württemberg de:hubs, the regional Digital Hubs, and European Digital Innovation Hubs form the Digital Hub Network Baden-Württemberg.
Each de:hub will receive a maximum of 400,000 euros over two years, with the recipients having to provide at least 50 percent co-financing. This funding will allow the de:hubs to further develop structurally and in terms of content, continuing to bridge the gap to federal activities and initiatives in other states.
The de:hubs in Baden-Württemberg also benefit from improved access to regional businesses, research institutions, and other actors. They are promoted within the initiative 'Economy Digital Baden-Württemberg' as thematic lighthouses with international reach.
The Digital Hub Initiative was launched in 2017, with the first twelve de:hubs awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economics. As of September 2024, the nationwide network comprises 25 de:hubs, covering additional key industries and regions.

In April 2024, the Federal Ministry of Economics launched a call for the expansion of the Digital Hub Initiative, indicating its commitment to driving Germany's digital transformation.
