Surveillance cameras equipped with facial recognition technology deployed in educational institutions.
In the heart of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a new school for 1,100 students has been put into operation in the village of Belyi Yar, Surgutsky District. The school, which will begin accepting children from September 1, 2025, is part of a series of educational and safety improvements in the region.
One of the most significant changes is the installation of 77 state-of-the-art "smart cameras" in 35 educational institutions, including schools No. 8 and 24. These cameras, connected to the "Safe City" software complex, transmit real-time information directly to the Internal Affairs Department and the police.
The announcement about this installation was made by Mayor Maxim Slépov on his Telegram channel, and the news has been widely reported by our website. Subscribing to the "Khanty, Money, Oil Rigs" Telegram channel will provide first-hand news from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
The installation of these cameras was agreed upon with the UVD (United Emergency Situations Ministry) and was completed before the start of the new school year. All the newly installed cameras are designed to enhance the safety and security of students and staff within the schools.
While the exact installation dates for the "smart cameras" in the "Behind the Saim" and "Kedrovyi Log" parks in Surgut have not yet been announced, it is clear that the region is committed to improving safety and security across all its public spaces.
This move towards a more secure and connected community is a testament to the forward-thinking approach of Surgut's leadership, ensuring the well-being of its residents and visitors for years to come.
