Swindlers duped a woman from Magadan, stealing 500,000 rubles from her.
Warning: Fraud Alert – Another Deceitful Incident in MagaDan 🚨
A sneaky scam is on the loose in MagaDan! A cunning con artist impersonated a mobile carrier representative, coercing a 21-year-old resident to renew her contract, despite the fact that service agreements typically don't have an expiration date. In doing so, she unintentionally handed over an SMS code to the scammer. The scoundrel utilized this code to access her personal Gosuslugi account.
The Sneaky Sequel: Posing as a Central Bank representative next, the scammer alarmingly informed the naive victim about suspicious activities involving her private data. They blatantly advised her to transfer her savings to a "secure account" to safeguard them – but here's the catch: of the total 500,000 rubles, only 17,000 were her own, with the rest being credit funds. Regrettably, seduced by this dishonest ploy, the vulnerable young woman inadvertently suffered a grievous financial loss of almost 500,000 rubles.
Criminal Investigation Underway: The MagaDan City Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has commenced investigations, launching criminal cases under Articles 159 (Fraud) and 272 (Unlawful Access to Computer Information) of the Russian Federal Criminal Code.
Stay Wary and Vigilant! If someone ever requests your SMS code, it's definitely a scam! Scammers may claim to represent marketplaces, mail services, banks, social security agencies, regulatory bodies, utility providers, the Gosuslugi portal, law enforcement, or anyone else. So, persevere in staying cautious!
Remember, there's no such thing as a safe account! Hang up immediately!
