Tesla Cybertruck Owner Claims Glass Roof Exhibited Unintentional Cracking Under Heat Conditions, Describing the Pattern as Twirling Like a Whirlwind or a Spider's Web
In a recent development, Macon Hill, a Cybertruck owner from Georgia, has shared his experience of a spiral-shaped stress fracture in the panoramic glass roof of his Cybertruck. The fracture, resembling a tornado or a spider web, appeared without any impact, likely due to intense heat causing thermal stress.
Tesla confirmed that the damage was not caused by an impact and replaced the roof under warranty, although the initial replacement led to scratches requiring another replacement. Macon shared a screenshot from his Tesla app that displays the service summary for the glass roof replacement.
This is not an isolated incident. Stefan De La Rosa, a Tesla Model 3 owner, also experienced a leaky new roof after replacement, with the damage not resulting from any external impact. Another Cybertruck owner, Alexander Arrieta, has asked about the appearance of the damage to the glass roof.
The large size of the Cybertruck windshield and potential structural tension seem to make it prone to fracturing due to flaws at the glass edges. Tesla has been addressing these issues primarily through warranty replacements.
Macon encourages other Cybertruck owners, especially during summer heat, to check for microcracks or spiral lines radiating outward, especially in areas exposed to direct sunlight.

- Macon Hill, a Cybertruck owner, has highlighted the need for car-maintenance checks, emphasizing the importance of scrutinizing the glass roof, particularly in areas exposed to direct sunlight, as a spontaneous stress fracture occurred in his vehicle.
- Given the recent development of Teslaconfirming a spiral-shaped stress fracture in the glass roof of a Cybertruck and the subsequent leaky replacements in other Tesla models, lifestyle choices might be influenced by the reliability of electric vehicles and their susceptibility to technology-related issues, particularly in hot conditions.
