Tesla Diner Undergoes Menu Changes for Improved Service Efficiency

The Tesla Diner, a retro-futuristic eatery that combines dining with EV charging, has made some changes to its menu. The changes, which were announced by the diner's chef, Eric Greenspan, aim to improve service efficiency and maintain the high quality of food that the diner is known for.

The Tesla Diner, which opened its doors on July 21, 2025, at the site of a former Shakey's Pizza on Santa Monica Boulevard, has been a hit with Los Angeles residents and visitors alike. The diner, overseen by Tesla's head of design, Franz von Holzhausen, and operated by restaurateur Bill Chait, offers a unique blend of nostalgic 1950s Americana and modern technology. Guests can order food directly from Tesla vehicle touchscreens or a mobile app.

The current menu at the Tesla Diner features classic American diner fare with a futuristic presentation. However, recent changes have seen the elimination of the veggie patty option for the burger, a reduction in the number of items on the menu, and the discontinuation of classic fountain drinks. The menu now includes five sandwiches, two sides, two pie flavours, shakes, and soft drinks. Breakfast items are now available only in the mornings.

Despite these changes, the diner's prices remain modest for Los Angeles, with combos under $15, and plant-based options priced slightly higher but still competitive. The Tesla Diner's menu continues to offer a range of delicious options, including the Tesla Burger ($13.50), Hot Dog ($13), Diner Club sandwich ($15), Tuna Melt ($14), Fried Chicken & Waffles ($13.50), and Grilled Cheese ($9). All-day breakfast options such as Egg Sandwich ($12), Avocado Toast ($11), and Biscuits & Red Gravy ($15) are also available.

When asked about the changes, Greenspan mentioned that the change was necessary to cope with unprecedented demand. He did not rule out specials and promised Easter eggs for those who keep an eye out. He also hinted that the menu would evolve, reflecting the diner's commitment to innovation and excellence.

The Tesla Diner also offers a unique drive-in movie experience, with giant outdoor screens. The diner operates from 6 am to midnight, according to Eater. With its futuristic design, innovative menu, and commitment to sustainability, the Tesla Diner is a must-visit for anyone in Los Angeles.
