Tesla to launch on Apple Podcasts within the coming week
With the upcoming 2023 Holiday Update, Tesla vehicles will see the integration of the Apple Podcasts app, enhancing in-car entertainment and connectivity. This collaboration with Apple is part of Tesla's commitment to providing an enriching driving experience.
The integration will be available for Tesla Model S, 3, X, Y, and Cybertruck owners in nearly 50 countries. To unlock the full potential of this feature, a Premium Connectivity subscription is required.
To link the Apple Podcasts app to a Tesla vehicle, users will need to use their iPhone to scan a QR code displayed on the vehicle's screen. This will direct them to a corresponding webpage where they can sign in using their Apple ID.
Once connected, the Apple Podcasts app will be accessible through Tesla's App Launcher, either on top of the map or docked in the My Apps section. The app mirrors its counterparts on Apple devices, featuring the familiar Listen Now tab, Up Next queue, Latest Episodes, Recently Played episodes, Browse tab, Top Shows, and Top Episodes.
Users can search for specific shows, personalities, or topics within the Tesla infotainment system. The search results are displayed without leaving the system, making it convenient for drivers to find their favourite content on the go.
The integration does not repeat earlier mentioned features like access to the user's entire podcast library, playback syncing across devices, etc. However, playback syncing across devices allows drivers to continue listening to their favourite podcasts on another Apple device when they reach their destination.
The addition of the Apple Podcasts app to Tesla vehicles is more than just an app integration. It offers a new journey of entertainment on the road, making long drives more enjoyable. The Apple Podcasts app in Tesla vehicles is now integrated into the search experience, providing seamless access to a vast array of podcasts.
The tech giants collaborating with Tesla on the 2023 Holiday Update for the infotainment system are Google and Apple. Google Maps, Google Play Store, Google Assistant, and Apple CarPlay connectivity are also part of the update. Notably, Google requires a Premium Connectivity subscription for its service in Tesla vehicles.
In summary, the integration of Apple Podcasts into Tesla vehicles is a significant step forward in providing an enriched in-car entertainment experience. With this update, Tesla continues to push the boundaries of what a connected car can offer.
