New Tesla Supercharger Opens in Downtown Vancouver

Tesla has expanded its charging network in downtown Vancouver with the opening of a new Supercharger station on December 31, 2024. The station, located at 535 Smithe Street, was first revealed on Tesla's Supercharger map in November 2024.

The new station, which consists of 12 stalls spread across two levels of a parking garage (Level 2 and Level 3), is part of the Greater Vancouver area, commonly considered as the downtown region for Tesla's Supercharger location.

Tesla drivers can enjoy charging rates ranging from $0.23 to $0.29 per kWh at the Smithe Street Supercharger station. However, non-Tesla EV owners, using NACS adapters, will pay slightly more, with rates between $0.30 and $0.38 per kWh.

Regarding parking fees while charging, the exact details are not clear. Tesla's typical policy suggests free parking while charging, but this is not explicitly confirmed for the Smithe Street Supercharger station. It is worth noting that any parking beyond charging time or for non-Tesla vehicles may incur fees, often as per local municipal rules.

Photos shared by a reader suggest that charging without having to pay extra is possible at the Supercharger station. If you stay with your car while it is plugged in, you are likely not required to pay extra.

This new Supercharger station adds to Tesla's existing downtown Vancouver charging network, which includes a V3 Supercharger in Pacific Center and a V2 Supercharger on Burrard St, both of which are also in pay parking garages.

However, it appears that the exact downtown address of the new Supercharger station was not specified in the initial search results.

Despite this, the opening of the new Supercharger station is good news for Tesla drivers in downtown Vancouver, offering them a convenient and efficient charging option.

  1. As electric-vehicle technology continues to advance, the charging lifestyle of Tesla drivers in downtown Vancouver welcomed a new improvement with the opening of the Supercharger station on Smithe Street, further supporting their commitment to eco-friendly cars.
