Title: Honor's Upcoming Phone: Porsche-Inspired Design and Luxury Price Tag
The collaboration between Honor and Porsche Design is expanding their Magic series, with the introduction of the Honor Magic 7 RSR. After the launch of the Magic 7 Pro in the UK and Europe, this new model is set to join the luxury lineup, alongside the Magic V2 RSR and the Magic 6 RSR.
Inspired by the Magic 7 Pro, the RSR version boasts some notable improvements. The first noticeable change is the battery capacity, bumping up to a 5,850mAh cell, similar to the China variant of the Magic 7 Pro. Contrastingly, the global version of Magic 7 Pro only comes with a 5,270mAh battery.
The design is the second highlight. The RSR version appears sharper, bolder, and has a redesigned camera module, taking inspiration from a real Porsche. The rear panel's aesthetics mimic sports car headlights, while the camera housing resembles a real Porsche. The phone is available in two color variants: Provence with a purple hue and Agate Grey.
Last but not least, the RSR offers improved RAM and storage. It will feature 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, making it a more powerful and versatile smartphone. However, it will cost more than the Magic 7 Pro.
Looking beyond the design and hardware, the RSR shares several advanced features with its predecessor:
- Screen: The Magic 7 RSR boasts a 6.8-inch OLED display, offering 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, 5,000 nits of peak brightness, and Dolby Vision certification, ensuring vivid and detailed visuals.
- Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering smooth performance for demanding tasks. The camera setup remains the same as the Magic 7 Pro, providing a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, a 50MP primary camera, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor.
- Battery: Sporting a 100W wired super-fast charging and an impressive 80W wireless charging.
- Connectivity: Supporting dual Wi-Fi chips, 5G network optimizations, dual satellite communication, and NFC.
- Security: Featuring advanced security features such as ultrasonic fingerprint scanning, 3D facial recognition, and IP68 dust and water resistance.
In terms of software, the RSR runs on MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15, offering five Android OS updates and six years of security updates. It also benefits from AI-powered features, intelligent assistant capabilities, and real-time language support.
The Honor Magic 7 RSR will start selling in Europe from February 21, 2025, with a price tag of €1,799, approximately $1,850. Although it is a luxe smartphone, it is more affordable than its predecessor, the Magic 6 RSR, priced close to $2,000. However, it is still €500 more expensive than the €1,300 Magic 7 Pro in Europe.
