Title: NYT Puzzle Solutions: Hints and Responses for January 13

Hey there, folks! I hope you had a marvelous weekend and you're all jazzed up for the week ahead!

I gotta share something awesome that happened to me recently – I scored an upgrade on a long-haul flight! This was my first time ever turning left when boarding a plane, and let me tell you, business class is a whole different ball game compared to economy.

I had a lie-flat seat with a built-in massager and lumbar adjustment, a three-course meal with metal utensils and all the drinks and snacks I could want (though I kept it moderate, just two glasses of wine and a little port). It's safe to say I never want to fly economy again, especially as someone with a bit more weight!

Travel hacking and ramen for life, here I come!

Speaking of which, I'd love for you all to join our new Discord group for Connections and this column! It's an excellent opportunity to chat about each game and other fun topics with me and other enthusiasts. You can share how you approach the game, give feedback, or just hang out and chat. It's always interesting to hear from other people!

Now, on to today's NYT Connections hints and answers!

How To Play Connections

Connections is a popular and free daily word game from the New York Times. You can play it every day at midnight on their website or app.

Your goal is to arrange 16 words into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The categories could include items that can be clicked, research study participants, or words that come before a certain body part.

The puzzle only has one solution, and it's essential to be careful when considering words that might fit into more than one category. You can rearrange the words to help you see connections better.

Each group is color-coded – the yellow group is typically the easiest, followed by blue and green, with the purple group being the most challenging due to its wordplay.

If you guess incorrectly, you'll lose a life. If you're close to getting it right, but not quite, you'll see a message telling you which word to swap. Make four mistakes, and your game is over.

Luckily, today we have some hints and answers to help you out!

Today's Connections Answers:

  1. Yellow group – COACH, GUIDE, SCHOOL, TRAIN

  4. Purple group – BOOK, EARTH, GLOW, INCH

This game was relatively easy, so it helped me get back on track after a week-long losing streak. My results:

🟨🟨🟨🟨

🟪🟪🟪🟪

🟩🟩🟩🟩

Not much brainpower required for this one, thankfully. I started with COACH for the yellows, then moved on to BRAKE and PARK for the blues. From there, it was straightforward to identify the greens. The purple category was the trickiest, but I eventually figured out the connection between BOOK, EARTH, GLOW, and INCH.

That’s all for today's Connections clues and answers. Keep an eye out for hints and solutions for tomorrow's game in my blog if you need them!

In the meantime, I encourage you to check out Daði Freyr's performance of "Whole Again" at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, which I first saw when he opened for The Darkness and Busted last summer. It's a fantastic cover, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Have a fantastic day, everyone, and don't forget to stay hydrated. Stay tuned for more coverage of Connections and other word games, plus some video game news, insights, and analysis! 😊
