Trial Begins Against 'Alice in Wonderland' Child Pornography Platform Masterminds
A trial has begun against five alleged masterminds of a massive child pornography platform, 'Alice in Wonderland'. The platform, which facilitated contacts between users to arrange meetings for child sexual abuse, had tens of thousands of users and millions of images depicting child abuse, including of babies.
The defendants, aged 44 to 63, are accused of acting as moderators or administrators of the platform since 2019. One of their tasks was to make users unrecognizable in self-created content to hinder prosecution. Around 75,000 image files were found in the apartment of one of the defendants. The platform was shut down in September 2024, and extensive evidence was secured in six federal states.
Three suspects in NRW have been convicted of distributing child pornography in a criminal organization and sentenced to several years in prison. Proceedings have been initiated against 560 users identified nationwide. The trial is scheduled to continue over ten more days until mid-November.
The trial against the five alleged masterminds of 'Alice in Wonderland' is underway, with the defendants facing serious charges related to the facilitation of child sexual abuse. The extent of the platform's reach and the number of users involved highlight the gravity of the situation. The trial's outcome is eagerly awaited as it may provide justice for the victims and help prevent such crimes in the future.
