Tunisian Startup Tyer Wind Brings Urban Wind Power with Hummingbird Turbines
A Tunisian startup, Tyer Wind, is revolutionising wind energy with its innovative, hummingbird-inspired turbines. These unique devices can operate in dense urban areas and residential zones, posing no threat to migratory birds.
Tyer Wind's secret lies in its blade design. Mimicking a hummingbird's wing movement, the blades create an '8' figure, beating between 55 and 75 times per second. This mechanism allows the turbines to generate power even at low wind speeds, making them highly efficient.
Each blade, measuring 1.6 meters, produces 1 kW of power. The turbines are constructed using lightweight carbon fiber, enabling low-cost installation in various locations. Moreover, they operate silently and are less visually intrusive, making them an attractive option for urban areas.
Tyer Wind's hummingbird-inspired turbines offer a clean, less polluting, and more environmentally friendly source of electricity. After years of testing, these unusual yet efficient wind turbines are gaining prominence worldwide.
