Malaysian Firm NexG Expands Secure Identity Doc Production Capacity with Enhanced Facility

Malaysian identity document producer NexG Bhd is investing approximately RM250 million (roughly US$15.38 million) to build a state-of-the-art, Industry 4.0-ready secure identity document production facility. This investment signifies a substantial expansion of NexG's production capacity and technological capabilities for secure ID documents.

The new production plant will incorporate advanced Industry 4.0 technology, enabling a fully automated production process for enhanced product precision and security. The development will be rolled out in three phases, aiming to increase the annual production capacity to over 15 million secure ID documents. Upon completion, the facility will augment NexG's current production capacity by roughly 50 million units, substantially bolstering its ability to meet surging global demand for secure identity solutions.

The RM250 million financing for the project will be sourced from internal funds, equity fundraising, strategic partnerships, and borrowings. Each phase of the operation is anticipated to generate revenues ranging from US$100 million to US$200 million, based on the types of documents produced, country-specific requirements, project scope, and security features embedded in the documents.

The advanced security infrastructure and expanded production capacity position NexG as a leading global player in secure ID document manufacturing. This upgrade propels the company toward future innovation in R&D, system integration, and identity technologies, solidifying NexG's position to export Malaysian-developed secure identity solutions worldwide.

NexG's executive chairman and CEO, Datuk Hanifah Noordin, expressed the importance of the enhanced production capabilities and the establishment of a dedicated global platform, which will enable NexG to expand its reach to more countries, meeting international demand for secure identity infrastructure.
