The Carrier Strike Group (CSG25) is currently in Australia, participating in Operation Highmast, a multinational military exercise led by the UK's Royal Navy. This deployment strengthens operational cooperation with international partners and underscores Britain's strategic commitment to the Indo-Pacific region.

Operation Highmast involves over 35,000 military personnel from 19 nations, making it one of the largest exercises globally this year. Participating nations include the UK, Germany, France, Poland, Finland, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Norway, the US, Australia, and the United Nations. Each nation brings unique capabilities, such as frontline command, air power, theater hub functions, and nuclear support, contributing to a robust multinational force.

The exercise, Exercise Talisman Sabre 25, is the largest military exercise Australia has ever hosted. For the first time, offshore activities will also take place in Papua New Guinea. All three branches of the UK Armed Forces are engaged, with the Royal Marines playing a central role. More than 3,000 British forces are participating.

The CSG25 deployment aligns with the UK government's Plan for Change, fostering international partnerships that drive economic growth and national security. The Royal Navy, alongside its AUKUS partners, is testing advanced sub-sea and seabed warfare capabilities. Notably, AUKUS nations are demonstrating the ability to remotely control Extra Large Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles (XL-UUVs) for the first time.

Exercise Talisman Sabre 25, with its multinational participation and cutting-edge capabilities, reinforces the collective commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order. The UK's leadership in Operation Highmast underscores its strategic role in the Indo-Pacific region, fostering cooperation and demonstrating a shared resolve to uphold global security.
