Ukraine Destroys Russian Buk Air Defense with Innovative Drone Tactic
Ukrainian forces have scored a significant victory using an innovative drone tactic. A small, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Lasar's Group has successfully destroyed a Russian Buk-series air defense system, causing heavy damage to enemy vehicles in the region.
The operation began when ATESH, a Ukrainian resistance group, shared coordinates of a deployed Buk air defense system with Ukrainian forces. Initially, Russian troops failed to recognize the threat posed by the approaching drone, mistaking it for an innocuous object.
The drone, riding on a Buk-series loader, traveled approximately 15 kilometers towards the enemy launcher. Once in position, it self-destructed, triggering the destruction of the hostile air defense equipment. The explosion also heavily damaged or destroyed at least one Russian vehicle in the vicinity. Russian personnel fled the scene following the drone's detonation.
This creative use of Ukrainian FPV drones has resulted in the destruction of a key Russian air defense system, potentially improving the safety of Ukrainian forces in the region. The identity of the individual who provided ATESH with the photos and coordinates remains unknown.
