Universal Orlando allegedly collaborating with The Boring Company

The Boring Company, led by Elon Musk, is reportedly considering a project that could revolutionise transportation in Orlando, Florida. The proposed plan involves an underground transit system along International Drive, connecting popular venues and tourist attractions, such as Universal Orlando's theme parks and the Orange County Convention Center.

While no formal or confirmed project has been announced yet, strong rumours and speculation have been circulating since July 2025. The Boring Company's operations, which have already demonstrated success with the Vegas Loop in Las Vegas and potential projects in Nashville and Dubai, make them a likely candidate for this contract.

The Vegas Loop, operational since 2021, uses Tesla cars to transport visitors from one place to another, moving them efficiently through a subsurface network. If the project in Orlando materialises, it would aim to alleviate traffic and improve connectivity in one of Central Florida’s busiest areas.

Local leaders and business figures, including Maria Triscari, president and CEO of The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce, recognise the potential benefits of such a system. However, many details, such as funding, timelines, and operational plans, remain unknown.

Ongoing talks are taking place with property owners, and it appears that other tourism operators are involved in the initiative. Universal Orlando Resort is reportedly in discussions to collaborate on this project. The Boring Company's operations involve signing MOUs with foreign entities, as demonstrated by their agreement with Dubai for an underground transport system in the emirate.

If the project in Orlando comes to fruition, it would mark another step in the Boring Company's mission to improve transportation systems. As Joshua Wallack, a local business owner, reports, the Boring Company is considering linking the Orange County Convention Center to Epic Universe, Universal Orlando's newest theme park.

For now, the project remains in the discussion phase, and no official public statements or formal proposals have been made. However, the potential benefits and the success of the Boring Company's previous projects have generated significant buzz and optimism among local stakeholders. Only time will tell if Orlando will become home to an underground tunnel road system similar to Las Vegas.
