Updates to BMW models for the spring of 2025 revealed
BMW has announced a series of updates and introductions for several of its models, set to roll out in spring 2025. The lineup includes improvements for the i5 electric sedan, the launch of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and performance enhancements for the BMW M3 CS Touring.
The i5 electric models are expected to see improvements in driving range and efficiency, following BMW's usual trend of annual electric vehicle updates. Although specific figures are yet to be released, it's likely that the 2025 i5 will benefit from better battery technology or software optimizations.
The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is a new addition to the lineup, aiming to offer a more affordable premium compact sedan option. The Gran Coupe features a longer and lower body, with a design reminiscent of the new 1 Series. Powertrain options include a 228 hp 228 xDrive model, expected to be renamed as the 230 in the updated lineup, and an M235 xDrive model with an updated B48 engine, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, paddle shifters, adaptive M suspension, and unique interior and exterior features.
Performance enthusiasts will be excited about the BMW M3 CS Touring, which is set to arrive in spring 2025. In terms of design, the BMW 5 Series models now feature door-mounted switchgear finished in high-gloss black, and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic paint, Dark Violet/Atlas Grey, and Taupe/Atlas Grey Merino leather interior colours are now available as options.
The new BMW M5 offers Dark Violet/Black Merino leather and Taupe/Deep Lagoon Merino leather interior choices, while the BMW X6 xDrive40i introduces Tanzanite Blue metallic paint as a new option.
BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, the largest single BMW production facility in the world, continues to assemble over 1,500 vehicles each day and up to 450,000 annually.
In addition, certain BMW plug-in hybrid models will now charge at 11 kW, up from the previous 7.4 kW, and vehicles running BMW Operating System 8.5 will receive a more intuitive map interface.
The new 2026 BMW iX xDrive60, equipped with 20-inch Aero wheels on summer tires, boasts an EPA estimated range of 364 miles. The new 2026 BMW 228 Gran Coupe has a base MSRP of $39,600.
