Upgrades at Mt. San Antonio College: aquatics center and gym complex undergo renovation by Extron.
Mount San Antonio College's expansive 421-acre campus, making it one of California's largest institutions of higher learning, is growing to accommodate a growing student enrollment. As part of this expansion, the college recently built a gymnasium and aquatics complex equipped with innovative technology.
The complex, spread over 145,000 square feet, features 13 video walls and 93 endpoints. To connect all spaces and tackle the challenge of displaying content at various native resolutions, Mt. SAC opted for the Extron NAV Pro AV over IP system. This system incorporates NAV scaling decoders and Extron control systems.
Ben Frederick, CEO of Production Access Group, commented that the NAV system's capacity to scale is a significant advantage. Different videowalls require specific resolutions, and the NAV scaling decoder ensures these are delivered without the need for additional equipment in the challenging gym and pool environments.
The NAV system currently comprises 93 endpoints and is expandable. It links the main gym, multi-purpose gym, main pool, dive pool, and various other NAV endpoints in meeting, learning, and targeted environments. Centerpoint, the integration firm, employed one NAVigator Pro AV over IP System Manager with a LinkLicense upgrade to configure the encoders and scaling decoders in bulk, saving time and simplifying setup.
Video and other content can be distributed to any combination of displays across the facility, including the scoreboard and other videowalls, auxiliary displays, digital signage, and individual room displays. NAV 1G encoders, which support HDMI, Ethernet, and USB, bring content from the scoreboard computers and various other sources into the main system.
The system's standardization on multiple common resolutions was not feasible due to the various types and sizes of displays. Each NAV scaling decoder is configured to output the optimal resolution to match the native resolution of each videowall and display device. The NAV scaling decoder also supports the AES67 audio stream.
This setup improves the AV experience in the gymnasium and aquatics complex, offering a robust and reliable infrastructure for various events and activities. The Extron NAV Pro AV over IP system provides a scalable and high-performance solution for distributing audio and video signals, making it suitable for applications requiring high-quality AV distribution, such as in educational and sports facilities.
