Users can deactivate extra mobile numbers on "Gosuslugi" platform now.

Rewritten Article:

Now, Megafon customers in Omsk can easily check all mobile numbers registered under their name via the "Govuslugi" portal. If a number hasn't been used for a while, or was registered without the owner's knowledge, it can be blocked without visiting an operator's store.

Before, clients had to contact each telecom operator individually to see all SIM cards registered under their personal data. Now, with "Govuslugi," checking mobile numbers is a breeze in one spot!

Information about the number of SIM cards registered for a user under mobile network services is essential for controlling the total number of service contracts. Remember, in accordance with the current legislation, there will be a limit of 20 mobile numbers for a Russian citizen this year in Russia.

As of yesterday, operators are required to check the number of SIM cards held by a customer before signing a new contract. If an operator detects that a customer has more than 20 SIM cards (no matter if they were registered with any operator), the client will be denied a new contract.

Megafon has preemptively implemented verifying the number of SIM cards online. Thus, this procedure for Russian citizens was launched as early as March 27th in all Megafon stores.

If a Megafon customer notices unwanted SIM cards among their numbers on "Govuslugi" or they were registered without their knowledge, they can utilize the "Block Number" feature. After this, they'll receive an SMS notifying the start of the service disconnection process, with the information being duplicated in their Megafon account.

If a number is blocked by mistake, the Megafon client must visit a telecom store or contact center, undergo identification, and then have the lock removed.

In the situation where a number has been used for an extended period by someone who isn't the official owner, and the owner receives a notification about the block, a full identification process, including providing the necessary documents in the Megafon store, followed by reissuing the numbers, will be required.

The process of checking numbers through the "Govuslugi" portal will allow Megafon mobile network users to have full information on the SIM cards registered in their name and, if necessary, opt out of unused numbers. This must be done before November 1st this year.

A similar rule for foreign citizens was introduced on January 1, 2025, with the limit for this category of customers set at 10 units. Numbers exceeding the set limit must be discarded before July 1st.

"Implementing these changes required substantial preparatory work from Megafon," says Igor Glebov, director of the company's development department. "First, we had to perform an extensive integration of our resources with government information systems, overhaul our internal processes, and revise our client interaction processes. Second, we proactively began informing our clients about the changes and the importance of updating their information. Both initiatives were launched last year, enabling us to ensure a seamless transition to operating under the new rules and, most importantly, provide our clients with elevated protection and customer service."
