UWA Expands Global Footprint With Two Indian Campuses
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is set to expand its global footprint with the opening of two campuses in India. The first will be in Mumbai, followed by a second in Chennai. This move comes after high-level discussions with Indian officials and approval for international branch campuses.
UWA's Indian campuses will offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in STEM and business fields. They will maintain the same academic standards and quality assurance as the Perth campus. The university has partnered with Avasara Academy to provide full scholarships for high-achieving young women from low socio-economic backgrounds, aiming to improve access to higher education.
UWA has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HCLTech. Together, they will co-develop short courses and establish innovation hubs. Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma sees this expansion as a significant milestone for UWA's role as a leading institution in the Indo-Pacific region.
UWA's Indian campuses are expected to open soon, providing more opportunities for students in the region to access world-class education. The university's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and providing scholarships ensures that these campuses will be a valuable addition to the Indian education landscape.
