Title: Battery-Powered Mop-Vacs: Only a Third Clean "Good" According to Stiftung Warentest

Quick Catch: Struggling with dirty floors? Battery-powered mops and mop-vacs under review!

lengthy dirt-busting sessions? Skip the traditional mop & bucket and get a battery-powered mop or mop-vac – no sweating required! Robot vacuums got you covered, but these bad boys can clean up wet messes too.

Stiftung Warentest put nine devices through their paces – five battery-powered mops and four mop-vacs that doubled as vacuums. Prices ranged from 231 to 1449 euros. Devices were evaluated on hard floor cleaning, handling dried-on stains, and more. Some brands exclude unsealed floors. Before starting, water tanks needed filling, cleaning solution added, and devices set up. Most devices automatically moisten mop heads or rollers.

The Test Results: Only One in Three Mops "Good"

Out of the tested mop-vacs, most handled light dirt and cleaned up wet messes. However, many struggled with stubborn, dried-on stains.

The test winner among mop-vacs was the "Vorwerk Kobold VK7" with the SP7 attachment, priced at 1449 euros ("good", grade 2.1). It scored well in vacuuming & mopping. Among the pure battery-powered mops, the "Dreame H14 Pro", priced at 599 euros ("good", 2.2), was impressive.

Two mop-vacs were categorized as "poor." One of them was the "Philips 9000 Series AquaTrio Nass- und Trockensauger XW9463/11." It mopped poorly and barely vacuumed at all.

( Enrichment Data:* The Dreame X40 Ultra Complete robot vacuum, although not specifically tested as a mop-vac, received a ranking of 4th place out of 12 tested vacuum-mopping robots in January 2025 by Stiftung Warentest. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is a powerful vacuum-mopping robot with advanced features, but it was not evaluated in the context of the provided information.)

  1. Despite the promising range of battery-powered mops and mop-vacs tested by Stiftung Warentest, it appears that a mere third of these devices, such as the Vorwerk Kobold VK7 and the Dreame H14 Pro, were rated "good" in terms of employment policy, suggesting that there may be room for improvement in the development and production of these devices.
  2. In the realm of lifestyle choices, home-and-garden appliances like battery-powered mops and mop-vacs, along with gadgets and technology, are increasingly becoming a priority for consumers seeking convenience. However, Stiftung Warentest's test results indicate that only a third of these devices have been able to perform satisfactorily on hard floors and in handling dried-on stains, which might influence consumers' employment policy decisions regarding these products.
