VNUFA Marks 100th Anniversary with 'October' Graphic Arts Exhibition
An exhibition of graphic arts, titled 'October', is currently underway at Viet Nam University of Fine Arts (VNUFA) in Hà Nội. The show, which opened recently, features around 60 works by lecturers and students, marking the 100th founding anniversary of the university.
The exhibition, themed 'Tháng 10' (October), celebrates VNUFA's centennial. It showcases a variety of pieces, including prints, graphic paintings, and designs, created using diverse materials like woodcuts, lithographs, zinc prints, and modern models. Among the works is 'Ngọn lửa Pác Pó', a piece by artist Nguyễn Nghĩa Duyên.
Student Đinh Trung Kiên praised the exhibition for promoting the graphics industry and providing learning opportunities. He noted that it helps students develop skills in composition, image arrangement, and color use. Deputy Head of the Faculty of Graphics Hồ Trọng Minh explained that graphic language is built from basic elements like dots, strokes, and blocks, with typography playing a significant role in graphic design.
Lecturer Trịnh Ngọc Lê shared that the exhibition aims to honor generations of lecturers and give insight into their creative processes. The exhibition's name, 'October', ties in with the fundamental symbols of graphic arts and the binary language of the digital age.
The 'October' exhibition, featuring around 60 works by lecturers and students, is open until October 10 at VNUFA's location on 42 Yết Kiều Street, Hà Nội. The show celebrates VNUFA's 100th anniversary and offers students a chance to learn and practice their skills in the graphics industry.
