Vogelpatenprojekt Seeks More Volunteers After Successful Peregrine Falcon Year

The Vogelpatenprojekt, a successful initiative to protect native urban birds, is seeking more volunteers. This comes after a bumper year for peregrine falcons in Villingen-Schwenningen, with several chicks hatched and thriving.

Interested parties can contact Christine Blessing via email to get involved. The project, now in its fourth year, has shown remarkable success in safeguarding local bird species.

In Schwenningen, three young peregrine falcons were born in the Johanneskirche. Meanwhile, in Villingen, five chicks hatched and survived in the Römausturm. This is also the first year a hatched peregrine falcon chick was spotted in the Kaiserturm. The city is proud of these achievements and eager to build on them.

The project's success extends beyond peregrine falcons. Numerous offspring were produced in all installed jackdaw nesting boxes, thanks to the dedicated efforts of a team of five volunteer Vogelpaten and an engaged school class. These volunteers care for the nesting boxes and document the offspring.

The city of Villingen-Schwenningen is now looking for more Vogelpaten to volunteer in protecting and caring for the city's birds. Christine Blessing, reachable via christine.blessing@..., is the person to contact for participating in the bird sponsor project initiative. With more volunteers, the city aims to continue and build upon the success of the Vogelpatenprojekt.
