Volvo Unveils V90 Cross Country: The Final 90 Series All-Terrain Estate
Volvo has unveiled the V90 Cross Country, the final instalment in its 90 Series cars and successor to the XC70. This all-terrain estate is set to arrive in the UK in the first quarter of 2017, with first deliveries expected around that time. Prices are anticipated to start at approximately £45,000 to £46,000.
The V90 Cross Country is designed to offer a more refined off-road experience compared to its predecessor, the XC70. It comes with a raised ride height and cladding, enhancing its capability on rough terrain. However, unlike the XC70, it won't rely on excessive plastic cladding for its rugged appearance. Instead, it will be a more sophisticated product with inherent abilities.
Under the bonnet, the V90 Cross Country will be powered by a choice of D5 diesel and T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrains. It will be all-wheel drive and feature a chassis optimised for comfort and control, making it a worthy rival to the Audi A6 Allroad and the upcoming All Terrain version of the Mercedes E-Class. Volvo aims to position this model as a lower-riding alternative to the XC90, rather than a mere style-oriented variant of the V90 Estate.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country is set to hit UK shores in the first quarter of 2017, priced around £45,000 to £46,000. With its refined off-road capabilities, sophisticated design, and efficient powertrains, it promises to be a strong contender in the premium all-terrain estate segment.
