Warburg Pincus CEO Meets Vietnam's President to Boost Data Center Investments
Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus, recently met with Vietnam's President Luong Cuong in New York. The meeting discussed the firm's significant investments in Vietnam and plans to support the country's tech sector.
Warburg Pincus has invested over $2 billion in Vietnam since 2013, creating more than 40,000 jobs. The firm is now eyeing the data center market, with Perlman stating, 'Vietnam's advantages in land prices, labor costs, and clean electricity make it an attractive destination for global data centers.'
Currently, Vietnam has 41 commercial data centers with a total capacity of 221 MW. FPT Corporation has recently opened the FPT Fornix HCM02 Data Center in Ho Chi Minh City, boasting the most racks in the country to date. Meanwhile, Viettel is constructing the An Khanh Data Center in Hanoi, set to be the largest in northern Vietnam, and plans another in Ho Chi Minh City with a capacity of up to 140 megawatts.
Warburg Pincus, with its substantial investments in Vietnam, is now looking to support the country's ambition to become a global data center hub. The firm's interest, coupled with the ongoing data center projects by local companies, signals a promising future for Vietnam's tech industry.
