Agent Discovery
AGNTCY implements an Open Agent Schema Framework (OASF) and a decentralized Agent Directory, allowing autonomous agents to locate and understand the capabilities and status of other agents, similar to how DNS operates for internet hosts [2][3].
Agent Identity
Providing cryptographically verifiable and tamper-resistant digital identities and access controls for agents, AGNTCY supports secure cross-organization interactions and proper delegation of authority in workflows [2][3].
Agent Messaging
AGNTCY uses the Secure Low-latency Interactive Messaging (SLIM) protocol optimized for agent communication, featuring low latency, multi-modal data exchange, human-in-the-loop support, and quantum-safe encryption [2].
Agent Observability
Offering software development kits and schemas for end-to-end observability across heterogeneous multi-agent systems, AGNTCY facilitates real-time debugging, telemetry, and analysis especially tailored for the probabilistic and emergent behaviors typical in agent systems [2][3].
Protocol Integration
AGNTCY interoperates with prominent AI protocols such as Agent2Agent (A2A) for agent interaction models and Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) for sharing runtime context between agents and large language model systems [1][2].
Formative members of AGNTCY include major industry players like Cisco, Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, Oracle, and Red Hat, ensuring broad collaboration and support under the Linux Foundation’s neutral governance [1][3].
The AGNTCY project provides an integrated, standardized multi-agent system infrastructure addressing the entire agent lifecycle—from discovery and identity to secure communication and observability—enabling effective and trustworthy collaboration among AI agents across diverse platforms and vendors [1][2][3][4].
Meanwhile, other tech giants are also making strides in the AI domain. Hyland launched Agent Builder, a tool designed to help organizations build and deploy enterprise-grade AI agents. Parallel Works launched the ACTIVATE AI Partner Ecosystem, offering access to GPU capacity, secure Kubernetes environments, and vendor-neutral, distributed object storage [5].
